Planning to Relocate Blog

It has been quite a while since I've entered a blog entry. Life has been super busy. The New River Voice has published five issues and its Web site is FINALLY getting about ready to be up and running. Between trying to get the Voice off the ground and teaching two classes as an adjunct instructor, I've barely had to time to do anything else.

Once the Web site is fully operational, which should be around Nov. 1, I will probably start blogging on the Voice Web site instead of this one. So I hope you will visit the New River Voice regularly and see what's happening with me and in the New River Valley.

And if you haven't checked out the New River Voice MySpace page, be sure to do that, too!

And while you're at it, you might as well check out some New River Voice merchandise here!

New River Voice is out!

If you live in the New River Valley of Southwest Virginia, look for the New River Voice at various restaurants, coffee shops, bookstores, and various other outlets all across the Valley. The New River Voice is a free, biweekly publication, so pick up the first issue now and look for another to be released Sept. 6.

The Web site for the Voice has not been updated with content from the first issue yet, but that should be coming up soon.

Goodbye Verizon, Hello Better Customer Service

It occurs to me that after quite a while of ranting about Verizon, I haven't provided an update on that situation. I finally gave Verizon the boot—at least for home phone and Internet service. I had been having problems with them for quite a while, as detailed below, and I couldn't get the least bit of help from them.

So I switched my home phone and business phones to Vonage and have chosen SuddenLink as my Internet Service Provider. While I have had a few problems in setting up the new system, the customer service at both Vonage and SuddenLink has been pretty good—and great in comparison.

Operation Democracy

Taryn has just created a blog for the Radford Council of Operation Democracy. As she says about the blog, "we'll be posting entries about our progress--one small group's fight to make a difference where they are."

Check out the blog here, and if you're local to Radford, join us!

Have You Seen Flickr?

So, the question may be asked, how many Web sites will I have? Yep, I've just added another one. This one a Flickr page. What's Flickr? It's a cool place to keep photos where other folks can see them.

There are some great photographers on Flickr. I'm a sad amateur, but a few decent shots of mine can be found here.

Then you'll be glad to know that an alternative newspaper is coming to the NRV. The New River Voice will launch in August. Wanna know more about it? Click here.

And the actual Web site for the New River Voice is being built, but you can go ahead and bookmark it now! Check it out here.

Verizon Is Still Screwing Me!

Words cannot express how disappointed I am in Verizon's service. I hate them. HATE them. Seriously.
