Axl Wins!

Perhaps I should mention that I won the Lip Sync contest with a stirring rendition of Guns n' Roses' "Sweet Child o' Mine." Remember that video? Ah, those were the days. Real rock and roll.

Ironically, the night before I was bringing Axl back to fame, he was getting smacked by Tommy Hilfiger. Say what? A rock and roll dude getting slapped around by a fashion designer? It's a crazy world we live in.

We Are the 80s

So, more on the big 80s party last week. As I mentioned below, the pary was a lot of fun. Amid the food, beverages and dancing, we also had a few contests. Sarah dominated the Name That TV Tunes game, Ken won the 80s Trivia Contest, and his wife Sue won for Best Costume. Sarah is seen here receiving her award from Taryn. Ken and Sue are shown together in an outside photo.

More later.

I Love the 80s

Why is there such a fascination with the 80s? I'm not sure. For me, I suppose it is because so many of my influential years fell in that decade. I went through high school and college during the 80s, so lots of memories of growing up, becoming an adult, and general socialization revolve around the decade. So what better way to recall such memories than to have an 80s party?

Attendees ranging in age across a quarter decade attended our little shindig on Friday night, all dressed up in 80s attire. Our hosts, Eliott and Dave, are pictured here. We danced to songs ranging from Michael Jackson to Frankie Goes to Hollywood, from Madonna to Violent Femmes, from the B-52s to Bobby Brown.

All in all it was a great time. More info and pics to come.

Has it really been a month?

Wow! A whole month has gone by since I blogged last. As always, life is busy. Just yesterday (May 22), it was Taryn's birthday. We celebrated in the way we always do: We ate! I took her to lunch AND dinner. Good times.

On Friday, we were part of an 80s themed party. More good times. Pictures of that will be forthcoming, so stay tuned!

The week before that Taryn and I joined friends Ken and Sue in Salem, Va., to check out an Avalanche baseball game. The hometown heroes lost by a run in 10 innings.

Otherwise, I've been working on my manuscript, made it to RU's graduation, saw The DaVinci Code, and hung out with my new buddy Chaz, who may be the world's biggest fan of "Little Britain."

I should also mention that just after my birthday, I decided to get myself a little present. That's it pictured above. Not a good photo, but you get the idea. It's been fun riding the bike but weather and busy schedules have kept the riding at a minimal level thus far.

More soon!
